The Annual Business School Alliance for Health Management (BAHM) Competition Comes to CU Denver Business School

Every year the Business School Alliance for Health Management (BAHM) holds a prestigious case study competition between top health administration students, presenting the winners with $10,000 in prize money.

This year, the competition will be held at the CU Denver Business School on April 18, 2015.  Past competitions have been located at Harvard Business School, Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.

Each school nominates three students from their Health Administration program to compete.  The teams will then research and prepare a case study about this year’s topic: Innovation in the Delivery of Health Care Services.  For this topic, teams must look at a pioneering change in the health care industry that has impacted the way domestic or global consumers have used health care services in the last ten years.

Not only will the teams look at the innovations within the industry, but they will need to discuss and make the case about how to implement the change, paying particular attention to quantifiable measures of quality, cost, benefits, populations served, sustainability and value added.  Teams must also include a discussion that also addresses the six factors with which innovative health care ventures should be aligned, which includes structure, financing, accountability, public policy, technology, and consumers.

After the papers have been submitted, the teams must also give a 25 minute oral presentation to a panel of judges.  The judges include top CEOs from the healthcare industry.

The live presentation portion of the competition will take place at the Business School, Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 1:00– 3:00 pm, with a reception to follow.  The awards ceremony will ensue afterwards from 4:00-6:00 pm.

To attend the Final Round Case Presentations followed by the Awards Ceremony and Reception, please RSVP HERE. Appetizers and beverages will be provided.
