Mozambique’s First Lady tours CU campuses

DENVER – Today the CU Denver Business School, as well as the Anschutz Medical Campus – University Hospital, hosted the First Lady of Mozambique, Her Excellency Maria da Luz Dai Guebuza, for a tour of several facilities.

The group and First Lady are visiting a variety of locations throughout the Denver area as part of an overall effort to meet and learn from business leaders here to enhance their own understanding of American business.

While on the Anschutz Medical Campus, the First Lady and some of her delegates toured the Diane O’Connor Thompson Breast Center and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at University of Colorado Hospital. While in the Breast Center the group was able to see and hear about the new digital mammogram area.

The visitors then traveled to the new CU Denver Business School downtown at 1475 Lawrence where Dean Sueann Ambron and Associate Dean Jean-Claude Bosch welcomed them to the Center for Commodities.

As part of the tour, the visitors observed a trading simulation to learn how American businesses work. They also discussed a range of ‘best practices’ among businesses in the U.S.

Her Excellency has been the First Lady of Mozambique since her husband President Armando Emilio Guebuza took office in 2005. Since then she has worked closely to bring an end to childhood AIDS and to improve literacy across Africa.
