The Esteemed Business School Student Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship offered by the CU Denver Business School. The scholarship is designed to retain Colorado’s best and brightest graduating high school seniors in the state and to bring these talented students to the Business School. Incoming Fall freshmen who graduate at the top of their high school class are encouraged to inquire about scholarships.
One of the recipients, general business major Grecia Portillo, says this made her college decision easier. “This was definitely one of the determining factors when I was picking my university,” said Portillo. “I was looking at scholarship opportunities on the website. I saw the Esteemed Scholars scholarship and knew I needed to apply.”
Scholarships are awarded to Colorado resident incoming freshmen based upon ACT/SAT scores, high school GPA, class rank, and scholarship essay. Award amounts will vary from $20,000 to $10,000 and will be based upon a combined score of all factors. Students who score above the 90th percentile of the ACT/SAT may be eligible for a $20,000 award while those who score in the 87th percentile of the ACT/SAT may be eligible for a $10,000 award.
“This is a symbol that I should be here,” Portillo beamed. “I can accomplish so much more as a first year student than I ever thought possible.”
The Esteemed Business School Student Scholarship is extremely competitive and not all students who meet eligibility requirements will receive an award. Awards will be dispersed in equal incremental amounts, annually, over a four-year period. To continue to receive annual funds under this scholarship, students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours during the Fall and Spring semesters, and maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
