Latatiana Fulgham-Mumford MBA ‘26 has always been a jack-of-all-trades. As a child, she saw herself in a multitude of careers, including those of a therapist, a CEO, and a president. “My dream job was everything. I was always multifaceted.” Her entrepreneurial drive, coupled with her ability to adapt to life’s hurdles and use those challenges as catalysts for evolution, generated a varied resume and a multimedia approach to business.
After high school, Fulgham-Mumford followed her friend to Middle Georgia State University, where they pursued degrees and careers in air-traffic control. After receiving an offer to work for the government, Fulgham-Mumford left school to pursue that opportunity, only to fail the qualifying test by four points. She returned home without a degree or a job. Fulgham-Mumford kept hustling, though, and landed a summer job as an airline gate agent. During the off-season, she did everything from working in restaurants to non-emergency dispatch.
Fulgham-Mumford returned to school after a few years in the workforce, finishing her associate’s degree in 2016, and continued to work odd jobs. In 2022, she decided to continue her education and earned her Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management. She retired the idea of becoming an air traffic controller, but she still applied sporadically. In an about-face, Fulgham-Mumford tried her hand at the business side of aviation. Soon after completing her degree, she took her first salaried job as an operations supervisor at DHL Supply Chain. Building on the new feather in her cap, Fulgham-Mumford enrolled in the One-Year MBA program at the CU Denver Business School. For her, the most impactful part of the program has been collaborating with her classmates.
“We’re in a cohort of 43 people. We work really closely in groups, and every semester we switch. It’s very fast-paced. As someone who’s come from the workplace, it mimics the workplace so well. It’s a constant reminder that you need to be able to work with people, and it shows people areas where they can be a better leader, follower, and team member.”
In May of 2025, Fulgham-Mumford paired her entrepreneurial education and her creative interests, founding her LLC, Whispers from Her, which “speaks to one’s higher self through journaling and positive self-talk.” Seeing a gap in the representation of Black women in the products she used every day, she launched a line of notebooks and other stationery. Fulgham-Mumford also published a book, The One, The Two, and the Three, designed to help people get “unstuck.” Fulgham-Mumford even tried her hand at several podcasts, including 21 and Divorced and Sensitive Subjects. She is also involved with TikTok and live-streams on the platform. “When I tell people how much I have going on, it sounds crazy,” Fulgham-Mumford jokes, but she has work balanced and is focused on finding and honing in on her niche.
Fulgham-Mumford’s diversified portfolio and jack-of-all-trades approach to business is innovative and uniquely her own. She stands as a testament to the power of resilience, determination, creativity, passion, and hard work. CU Denver Business School is proud to take part in Latatiana Fulgham-Mumford’s journey as she uses education to evolve the meaning of entrepreneurship.
