DENVER – Two undergraduate students from the Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) Program at the University of Colorado Denver Business School have received a big boost in paying for their education through the RMI program’s recent designation as one of the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers’ (CIAB) Foundation for Agency Management Excellence (FAME) schools. As a result of the CU Denver RMI program earning the designation as a FAME school, CIAB has provided two CU Denver RMI students with a combined $15,000 in scholarships.

Hasmik Khachatryan was born and raised in Armenia. She moved to the United States after completing high school, and started college when she was just sixteen. While she faced some challenges due to a language barrier, she has worked hard to become a top student. Her hard work  has earned her a $5,000 scholarship from CIAB for her senior year in the RMI Program at the CU Denver Business School.

Jonathan Doke spent six years in the U.S. Navy as a submarine nuclear power plant operator and supervisor, and two years in the Navy Reserves prior to starting college. While in the Reserves, he started college part-time and concurrently worked as a quality inspector in the upstream wireless communication industry, followed by a stint as an oilfield technician. Now a Junior in the RMI program, Jonthan has received a $10,000 scholarship from CIAB to help fund the last two years of his bachelor’s degree.

Congratulations to both Hasmik and Jonathan on being recognized as the first FAME scholarship recipients from the RMI program at the CU Denver Business School.
