Fun, food and friends highlight festivities
DENVER – Activities on the CU Denver campus kicked off today with the grand opening of the new CU Denver Business School at 1475 Lawrence St. in downtown Denver and continued with a Block Party on the street in front of the recently renovated building.
Students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends gathered in the festive atmosphere. Some adventurous souls took a ride on the zip line, while others tried the climbing wall.
Over at the College of Architecture and Planning (CAP) table, they were giving away herb sprouts grown in paper cups donated by Starbucks.
In another corner a game of ‘four square’ was being played out. Nearby giant bubbles were floating about.
“What a great event for our university,” noted Betsy Metzger, CAP.
That enthusiasm was echoed over and over again around the event. At another table, undergraduate business student Megan Hinricher helped share information about Business School programs. “This new building is great,” she said. “It’s so cool to have everybody out here having such a good time.”
While a few raindrops fell very briefly, overall, “The weather and food options and commraderie are just awesome,” declared Malena Brohm, Business School Dean’s Office.
Storm Gloor, assistant professor, College of Arts & Media, pointed out, “What a great turnout, and it’s a perfect day.”
Several others enjoying the festivities remarked, “We should do more stuff like this!”
