Stock Image of People MinglingThe Global Energy Management (GEM) Program at the University of Colorado Denver Business School is a hybrid-online Master of Science (MS) degree program exclusively designed to develop future leaders in the energy industry. Earning an MS versus an MBA is a benefit to energy professionals because it differentiates them from masses earning a non-specific MBA. Upon completion of the program, students will gain the business acumen and leadership abilities needed to get that “next promotion” or “new position” in the energy industry.

The GEM Fall Open House provides prospective students, considering GEM, with the opportunity to learn more about the program by meeting and networking with our staff, current students, alumni, faculty and advisory council members.  It is great opportunity for perspective students to hear firsthand from like-minded peers their experiences as a current student or alumni.  In addition, GEM also hosts a small “Career Opportunity Fair” with human resource representatives and recruiters from various energy organizations in attendance to learn more job positions and opportunities in the industry.

The ability to meet with our faculty is a huge benefit to prospective students.  Nearly 90% of GEM faculty have extensive experience working in the energy industry.  Being able to speak with them about the curriculum and how it relates to what is taking place in the industry today demonstrates how beneficial a GEM education is to a rising professional.  It provides prospective students with a much better understanding of what the program has to offer, how it is delivered and what is expectation of a GEM student.  Lastly, GEM prides itself on its strong partnerships with the industry(reflected through our Advisory Council)  and our ability to deliver a curriculum that successfully integrates theory with real world practice.  GEM Advisory Council members will be in attendance at the open house and provide prospective students with insight into current industry issues and how the GEM Program can help them get ahead in this dynamic and growing industry.

This year’s Fall Open House will be on Thursday, October 18th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Augusta Room of the Westin Downtown Denver Hotel.  RSVP for the GEM Open House here.

Opportunities also exist to observe a GEM class this October during a cohort weekend, either October 13-15th or October 20-22.  For more information, contact Michele Motley at 303-315-8066, or by email at Michele.motley@ucdenver.edu
