DENVER— Flood and Peterson Insurance recently made a gift of $25,000 to the Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) program at the University of Colorado Denver Business School. The gift represents the first endowed scholarship from an insurance brokerage to the RMI program, which will help recruit more students into the insurance industry workforce.

A large proportion of risk management and insurance employees are expected to retire in the next five years, and as Denver grows as an insurance and business hub, it will require an increasing number of new industry professionals. The RMI program is developing the next generation of leaders, infusing the industry with much needed young talent.

According to Mike Butler, CEO of Flood and Peterson, “we are excited to partner with the RMI Program and the CU Denver Business School. Flood and Peterson has always invested in the communities we serve, and this scholarship will help address a critical need to recruit new talent into the risk management industry.”

The University of Colorado Denver is Colorado’s only public university to offer a program specializing in risk management and insurance. The RMI program  which was established at the Business School with a 2010 gift from Pinnacol Assurance. Launched in Spring 2011, the program has grown from 19 students to 76 in just five semesters.
