It’s tax season and income taxes continue to be a significant element of almost every company’s financial statements. Understanding how the impacts of complex tax laws are reported in the financial statements is critical to making informed business decisions.

To assist decision makers, the MS Taxation Program at the University of Colorado Denver Business School is excited to announce the new graduate course “Accounting for Income Taxes.” Designated ACCT 6475, the course will be offered for the first time Summer 2015.

Students will learn to interpret financial statements disclosures, calculate the various income tax provision components, and understand the most important principles and terms in the authoritative guidance. The course will also expose students to commonly faced issues including valuation allowances, uncertain tax positions, and international considerations.

Accounting professionals, as well as any users of financial information, will leave the course with practical knowledge that can be immediately applied in a business career.  Careers in the field of tax are expected to increase by 20% in the coming years, with more and more companies filing income tax returns each year.

Enrollment is now open for Summer 2015.  To enroll in this class contact your advisor or log on to UCD Access.
