On March 30th and 31st, The J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities at the University of Colorado Denver Business School, held the second offering of “Foundations of Commodities” which gives working professionals and new hires an overview of all facets of commodities, from exploration and extracting to commodities markets, risk management and price forecasting.
“A successful Professional Education program is an important part of the J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities mission” said Ajeyo Banerjee, Ph.D., Executive Academic Director of the Center and Director of the Risk Management and Insurance program. Held in the Commodity and Finance lab in the lobby of the business school, participants and Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) spent two days together.
Seven Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from all over the country traveled to Denver to share their knowledge and experience with students. Students themselves hailed from all over country and represented a wide array of businesses, from banking to milling. Thorvin Anderson, Executive Director of Structuring for J.P. Morgan’s Global Commodities Group in Houston, served as content director of the program. “Our goal was to try and condense months of on the job experience into 16 hours of class time.”
The program coincided with a celebration of the 3rd anniversary of the J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities, at the Business School’s current location. Participants, SMEs as well as faculty, staff and invited guests came together Monday night following class to celebrate the center, network and enjoy a Denver sunset.
