Hines broke ground on 1144 Lawrence Street for new 40 story skyscraper
A new shape will grace the Denver skyline in the next 31 months. This past Tuesday, June 9, the groundbreaking ceremony for 1144 Lawrence Street, a 40-story office tower being developed by Hines on 15th Street between Arapahoe and Lawrence streets took place. It has been several decades since a project of this magnitude has taken place in Downtown Denver.
The tower will be just over 660,000 square feet and is budgeted at over $300 million. The tower is aimed to attract high caliber businesses. The tower will be 603 feet, making it the 4th or 5th tallest building in Denver.
The tower will mostly cater to office space, but is reserving approximately 5,500 square feet for retail space. The skyscraper will also have parking, a gym and fitness center, conference and event space, and even a full service car wash.
The new building will be built just across the street from the CU Denver Business School. The skyscraper will amplify the business environment that is central to the curriculum at the Business School by bringing potential business partnerships closer to the Lawrence Street corridor and heightening the possibilities for more experiential learning opportunities for students.
This will not be the first Denver-based project that Hines has undergone. They are also in the process of completing 1601 Wewatta.
