On Tuesday, July, 21 at 4:00 PM, during a Business Career Connections networking event for the Industrial Distribution sector, a professional photographer will be doing headshots (event details at the end of this article). What’s more, the headshots are priced at $5, with all proceeds benefitting the Denver Rescue Mission.
Headshots are a great way to stand out and show your personality and professionalism on LinkedIn, or a professional portfolio website. Nowadays, with so many connections made online, and with employers now searching through social media as part of the background check, a professional headshot will help you to stand out of the crowd and make a great first impression. The photographer is Business School student, Deziree Dufresne. Dufresne is a professional photographer outside of her time spent at the Business School, and normally does headshots like these for hundreds of dollars.
When preparing for the headshot, there are a few things to keep in mind:
- Wear professional attire, but don’t forget your personality
- Be comfortable, being uncomfortable in your clothes will be apparent in the picture
- Avoid super bright colors (shouldn’t we all just leave neon green back in the 1980s?), or colors that blend in with your skin tone
- Avoid shirts that don’t cover your shoulders completely
As stated previously, the $5.00 donation will go to the Denver Rescue Mission. One hundred percent of the donation will benefit I-Care kits. These kits contain basic necessities such as soap, band aids, a toothbrush, and small snacks, which the homeless would otherwise not have access to. The Denver Rescue Mission is the oldest Christian charity organization in the Rocky Mountain Region. They seek to serve the community by changing the lives of people at various points of need to then rehabilitate them back into functioning members of society.
