On September 21, 2015 the CU Denver Business School Information Systems program hosted the International Visitors Leadership Program Workshop on the topic of Digital and Online Ethics Issues.

The International Visitor Leadership Program: 75th Anniversary is a U.S Department of State program arranged by World Learning. The visitors are invited to the United States and the program connects emerging leaders from around the world to address critical issues and help break down barriers.

The workshop was titled “Digital and Online Ethics Issues” and was on the topic of Information ethics. An overview of the workshop was stated, “Information ethics deals with the governance of ethical and moral issues arising from the development and use of information technologies. Digital ethics is embedded in the creation, collection, duplication, distribution, and processing of information itself.  Ethical dilemmas in this area usually arise not as simple, clear-cut situations, but as clashes amongst competing goals, responsibilities, loyalties and other socially adopted norms.  This workshop will focus on the ethical issues comprising of these elements and the use of principle-based ethics in information technologies, applying the principles of the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative.”

Sponsors of the workshop: Information Systems Program, Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative of the University of Colorado Denver Business School, Institute for International Business/CIBER, WorldDenver, World Learning Institute.
