Last week was Denver Startup Week, a week full of events centered on Denver’s startup community. The Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship at the CU Denver Business School hosted several events and had over 2,000 attendees over the week.
Started in 2012, Denver Startup Week is a unique week-long experience bringing together the entrepreneurs in our community. According to the Denver Startup Week websiteit is a “week of events showcasing Denver’s entrepreneur community in tech, design, business, and manufacturing, to highlight Denver as an entrepreneurial center and continue to build the sense of community amongst entrepreneurs.”
The free sessions included workshops, keynotes, and panels, and took place in different venues all located downtown. Read more
On October 1, 2015 the newly formed Business School Alumni Network officially launched their efforts with a networking event and a panel discussion comprised of Business School Alumni Entrepreneurs. Interim Dean Gary Kochenberger kicked off the event by welcoming all the alumni in attendance, and discussing the importance of the Network to the success of the Business School. Read more
Professor of Health Administration, Heidi Boerstler, was selected for the Yale School of Public Health Winslow Centennial Honor Roll for Excellence and Service.
This year, the Yale School of Public Health is celebrating its centennial year (100th anniversary of the founding of the school). As part of their celebrations, the school established the Winslow Centennial Honor Roll for Excellence and Service. Read more
On September 21, 2015 the CU Denver Business School Information Systems program hosted the International Visitors Leadership Program Workshop on the topic of Digital and Online Ethics Issues.
The International Visitor Leadership Program: 75th Anniversary is a U.S Department of State program arranged by World Learning. The visitors are invited to the United States and the program connects emerging leaders from around the world to address critical issues and help break down barriers. Read more
The University of Colorado recently launched an online course series teaching data warehousing on Coursera, the world’s largest open online education provider. Launched on September 15, the Data Warehousing for Business Intelligence Specialization is a series of courses taught by CU Denver’s top faculty. The certificate program is open to anyone and ends with a capstone project, in which students build their own data warehouse with business intelligence functionality. Read more
Free class offered by CU Denver Business School gives high school students preview of risk management and insurance field.
College is still two years away for Deanna Alter, who this fall will be a junior at Cherry Creek High School. Thanks to a free summer course offered by the CU Denver Business School, Alter is earning college credit and learning about an industry — risk management and insurance — that wasn’t on her career radar. On September 11th the Beta Alpha Psi-Theta Sigma Chapter and the CU Denver Portfolio Management Group hosted Meet The Firms to connect students with potential employers.
The purpose of the event was to connect accounting, finance, and information system students with recruiters and professionals in the industry. It was well attended and great opportunity for students looking for jobs in those fields. Read more
