Hundreds of energy professionals, academics and executives gathered Thursday at the Hyatt Regency Denver for the second annual Energy Moving Forward  conference where experts debated the role of oil, gas and alternative fuels in a rapidly industrializing world. Viktorian Guitars wins $10,000 in contest DENVER – The makers of a high-tech, carbon fiber electric guitar walked away with first place Thursday in the 10th annual Business Plan Competition sponsored by the University of Colorado Denver Business School’s Bard Center for Entrepreneurship. “I’m elated to bring this new technology to Denver,” said Josh Jacobson, CEO of Viktorian Guitars which won $10,000 for its first place showing.  Read more

DENVER – JPMorgan Chase & Co. chief Jamie Dimon headlined the Business School’s 13^{th –} annual Celebration of Success dinner Thursday evening, May 19, where he warned of  economic catastrophe if the U.S. defaulted on its loans, a scenario he predicted would `dwarf’ the collapse of former banking giant Lehman Bros. “Think of Lehman times ten,” he told the packed audience at the Grand Hyatt Denver downtown.  Read more

DENVER – Some of the nation’s top energy leaders gathered Tuesday for a far-reaching series of debates and discussions on how to put the country on the road to a cleaner, safer and more energy independent future. More than 400 people attended the first annual Energy – Moving Forward 2010 conference at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel. The event, sponsored by the University of Colorado Denver Business School’s Global Energy Management (GEM) program, featured panel discussions on renewable energy, fossil fuels, the quest for a national energy policy and whether energy development and environmental concerns could ever be compatible.  Read more
