With CU Denver’s Commencement Ceremony taking place this weekend at the new Tivoli Quad, expected graduates are gearing up to enter the workforce. One such student is Katy Cline, a Finance major with an emphasis in Management. Cline graduated Summa Cum Laude on Saturday. On April 14 and 15, undergraduate business students from a four-state region took part in the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative’s fifth annual Consortium Case Competition. Ten student teams competed, representing business schools from universities in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. When RMI undergrad Lisa Barela Sullivan stepped into the Colorado State Capitol building on Thursday, February 25^th, she didn’t know what to expect from her first “Property & Casualty Insurance Day at the Capitol,” an annual event organized by Rocky Mountain Insurance Information Association (RMIIA). RMIIA’s “Mission Possible” day galvanized insurance professionals from all over Colorado to attend, meet their legislators, hear from Insurance Commissioner Marguerite Salazar and other legislators, lobbyists, and news journalists, all with the goal of learning about the legislative processes and laws that impact the insurance industry.  Read more

The Strategy Lab led by CU Denver Business School Lecturer Susan Heinzeroth is meant to give Graduate business students a hands-on approach to learning about strategy. Partnered with Jackson Financial, students became real-life consultants aiding their Marketing department into new ‘blue oceans’ of opportunity. By doing extensive research and industry analysis, the class was divided into teams and pinned against each other to offer innovative solutions surrounding the evolving retirement industry.  Read more

During the fall term, a team of 11-Month MBA students partnered with executives from Larimer Square to develop new business ideas for enhancing the amenities offered to the growing downtown workforce and population. Students were challenged to recommend cost-effective solutions for waste management from existing and prospective new businesses in downtown Denver, along with investigating the option of adding new amenities such as bike storage and facilities to the area.  Read more
