CU Denver faculty has discussed efforts to encourage millennial students, who have shown to be more risk-averse, to engage in entrepreneurship. Madhavan Parthasarathy, director of the Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship, discussed resources the center offers to students, such as providing mentors, networks and the fundamentals to starting a business. He also outlined the Launchpad Certificate Program, which enrolls non-degree-seeking students in five courses that give them the fundamentals to start their own business or contribute an entrepreneurial perspective to an existing organization.  Read more

Gaurav Chandra is a Surgeon who just finished a Burn Surgery/Critical Care Fellowship in the University of Colorado Hospital prior to entering into the 11-Month MBA program at the CU Denver Business School. A recent report puts Colorado as the number fourth state for most startup activity. The latest Kauffman Index report ranks both states and metro areas for the amount of startup activity. Among states, Colorado ranked fourth, and boasted 350 people becoming entrepreneurs each month for every 100,000 adults. Metro Denver ranked fifth among metro areas with 370 people becoming entrepreneurs each month for every 100,000 adults.  Read more
