Over 165 graduate and undergraduate students gathered from across the University of Colorado Denver and Anschutz Medical Campuses to compete at this year’s annual Research and Creative Activities Symposium. The Symposium showcases the research, creative and entrepreneurial activities of students on the Denver Campus and Anschutz Medical Campus. A recent study conducted by the Council for Aid to Education found that 4 in 10 U.S. college students graduate without the complex reasoning skills to manage white-collar work. One of the solutions that many have proposed to combat this, is for educational institutions to offer comprehensive programs that teach students the fundamentals of business. In the Fall of 2015, the Business School will launch a new business certificate that focuses on giving individuals with a non-business undergraduate degree, business essentials.  Read more

A new study by researchers at the University of Colorado Denver Business School, found that colleges and universities typically get what they pay for when it comes to hiring top tier football coaches. The study, published in the May edition of the Journal of Sports Economics, found a positive relationship between the amount a coach is paid and the football team’s performance  and that, when schools change coaches, higher pay is associated with improved performance.  Read more

On April 21, Business Career Connections (BCC) hosted the City and County of Denver for an exclusive mini career fair and panel discussion at the University of Colorado Denver Business School in the Laube Commons. Over 80 students and alumni attended. Additionally, 21 city employees were present to discuss the vast job opportunities with their departments. Three esteemed professionals from the City and County of Denver sat on the panel and discussed their careers, how they made a difference in the city, upcoming initiatives, and what types of employees the city looks for to hire.   Read more
