The Second World War caused a dramatic shift in the role of women in the workforce. The war necessitated women leaving the house and filling the positions previously assumed by men, opening the door to careers previously considered “men’s work.” In the postwar era, women comprised 35% of the workforce, a dramatic jump from the prewar 20%. With over 400 craft breweries across the state, it’s safe to say that beer is a significant part of Colorado’s culture. As a Colorado native, Karen Hertz, MBA ’05, grew up immersed in beer culture. Americans may be familiar with the “The Great Breakup.” This term encapsulates one of the biggest trends in U.S. workplaces, where more and more women are leaving their corporate jobs to pursue their dreams and start entrepreneurial careers.
