  • Examining the Tax Fairness Partisan Divide: Professor Michael Roberts wins innovative research award

    In August, Accounting Professor Michael Roberts and Theresa Roberts, an MS in Accounting student, won the Innovative Research Award for the 20th Annual Symposium on Ethics Research in Accounting, presented by the American Accounting Association (AAA).  The award was made jointly by the Professionalism and Ethics Committee and by the Public Interest Section of the American Accounting Association.   Read more

    After you make a purchase, do you notice the sales tax printed on the receipt? What would happen if that amount increased?  Based upon the newest research from Dr. Michael Roberts, Director of the Accounting Program at the University of Colorado, in collaboration with Dr. Cynthia Blanthorne of the University of Rhode Island, you might not notice.  What’s more, if you did, you probably would adapt to the increased tax fairly quickly.  Read more

  • CU Denver Study Links Pay to Performance of College Football Coaches

    A new study by researchers at the University of Colorado Denver Business School, found that colleges and universities typically get what they pay for when it comes to hiring top tier football coaches. The study, published in the May edition of the Journal of Sports Economics, found a positive relationship between the amount a coach is paid and the football team’s performance  and that, when schools change coaches, higher pay is associated with improved performance.  Read more

  • Wayne Cascio Awarded the Western Academy of Management’s Outstanding Scholar Award

    Wayne Cascio, PhD, who holds the Robert H. Reynolds Distinguished Chair in Global Leadership at the University of Colorado Denver Business School and professor of management, was recently awarded the Western Academy of Management’s Outstanding Scholar Award, sponsored by the Journal of Management Inquiry. This is a lifetime achievement award given once a year by the Western Academy of Management.  Read more

  • Business School Finance Student Awarded Competitive Fellowship

    The results are in and the announcements have gone out. The Global Association of Risk Professionals Partnership for Risk Education chose University of Colorado Denver Business School student Caroline Nguyen as one of five students awarded the Fall 2014 GARP Research Fellowship. “It was unbelievable to me,” Nguyen said. “I never thought I could win, since I knew it was very competitive.”  Read more

  • CU Denver Business School study calls for audit transparency

    Many firms outsource audit work, investors see lower quality DENVER — As major accounting companies increasingly outsource audit work to other firms, a new study from the CU Denver Business School says greater transparency is needed to help investors assess the quality of those audits. “Many people don’t realize that most audits of multi-national companies involve more than one auditing firm,” said study author Carol Dee, associate professor of accounting at the CU Denver Business School.  Read more
