  • China Factories Face Competition

    While China is currently the most competitive manufacturing nation on the globe, a new study released on Wednesday predicts that the United States will surpass it by the end of the decade, as a global shift to more advanced methods of assembly favors advanced economies. Jian Yang, Director of Finance at the University of Colorado Denver Business School said the traditional Chinese advantage in manufacturing – cost competitiveness – has been compromised due to rising wages and soaring land prices.  Read more

  • New York City finance career trek

    The CU Denver Business School held its first NYC Finance Career Trek the week of April 4th. Four graduate students, and ten undergraduate students attended the New York trip with Yosef Bonaparte, Assistant Professor, Finance; Stephanie Egan, Career Advisor, and Sue Wyman, Director, Business Career Connections.   • Sarah Kovoor-Misra Elected to Leadership Track

    Dr. Sarah Kovoor-Misra, Associate Professor of Management at the CU Denver Business School has been elected to the leadership track of the Western Academy of Management. Kovoor-Misra will be on a four year track starting this year as Vice President, next year as Program chair, the year after as President and concluding as Past President. The Western Academy of Management (WAM) is one of the more active and well regarded regional affiliates of the Academy of Management.  Read more

  • Energy Master’s Program Prepares Professionals for Leadership Roles

    The University of Colorado Denver’s Business School Global Energy Management (GEM) program is set to launch its 16th new class, which it calls “cohorts,” in July. The 18-month Master of Science program is focused 100% on the business side of the energy industry, and the program now has 300 alumni worldwide. “GEM was designed to add strong business acumen to a student’s technical expertise,” Catherine Steffek, GEM’s director of external affairs told, Oil & Gas 360®.  Read more

  • Jane M. Klausman Scholarships for 2016 Announced

    The Zonta Club of Denver is offering the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships, which are awarded to women undertaking business studies who have demonstrated outstanding potential in the field. One scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $1,500. In addition, Zonta International is offering scholarships of $1,500 each at the district level and 12 scholarships in the amount of $7,000 each at the international level.  Read more

  • Fewer Skilled Immigrant Worker Visas Means Less Innovation

    A reduction in the number of skilled immigrant worker visas in the United States has had a detrimental effect on innovation, according to a study co-authored by Rina Ray, PhD, an Assistant Professor of Finance at the CU Denver School of Business. Ray and her co-author, Rasha Ashraf, PhD, Georgia State University, found that U.S. firms dependent on skilled immigrant workers saw a decline in both patents and citations since 2004.  Read more
