    Lincoln, NE – Robert Kay is the owner of Star City Motor Sports in Lincoln, Nebraska, and an avid mountaineer. He is also a graduate of the University of Colorado Denver Business School, earning his BS in Finance and International Business in 1990. While he has conquered the challenge of owning a successful business, Kay’s sites are on reaching the summit of Mount Everest, the tallest mountain in the world.  Read more

  • Business School to Offer Tax CPE Course

    The Business School at the University of Colorado Denver has recently announced it will offer its first continuing professional education (CPE) course for tax professionals. The course is entitled “Recent Proposed Treasury Regulations Affecting the Taxation of Partnership Loss Transfers and Mandatory Basis Adjustments under Subchapter K.” The purpose of the course is to provide participants with a basic understanding of Internal Revenue Code sections 704(c)(1)(C), 743(d), and 734(d), and how to apply the regulations to affecting partners and partnerships.  Read more

  • Capstone Turns Into Entrepreneurial Startup

    Business School students develop system to test expanded hospital ER, draw interest from global health care organization DENVER and AURORA, Colo.—CU Denver Business School students Allyson Robbins and Michelle Boyd knew they had a powerful tool in a software program that analyzes workplace operations. Then, through a spring 2013 Business Analytics capstone project, they used the software to test a real-world workflow—innovative redesigns in an expanded hospital emergency room.  Read more

  • Jake Jabs Center Announces Scholarships Available for Summer

    DENVER – The Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship recently announced that it will offer scholarship awards to students registered in graduate entrepreneurship classes during the summer of 2014—including Maymester classes.   • Where does Denver rank among fastest-growing cities?

    If you look at the Rockies to the West, consider the influx of tech jobs and take into account that Denver has a fast-growing “live-work-play” environment, then this isn’t going to surprise you too much: Denver ranks No. 6 on a recent CNNMoney ranking of the top 10 fastest growing cities. University of Colorado Denver business school dean Sueann Ambron said that people are drawn to Colorado because of jobs, upward mobility and entrepreneurship.  Read more

  • Business Plan Champion Reaches Another Milestone

    AppIt Ventures, a software startup that got rolling after winning the 2012 Bard Center for Entrepreneurship Business Plan competition (now the Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship Business Plan Competition) at the CU Denver Business School, is going strong and just reached another milestone. Still at the helm of AppIt is company founder Rob Carpenter, who recently represented CU Denver in another prestigious competition—the University Startup Challenge at the University of Denver.  Read more
