Growing up, Sofie Maliyevsky ’25 wanted to be a fashion designer. She loved drawing, painting, and creating, even making custom styles for her dolls. Through her formative years, Maliyevsky attended a hands-on, expeditionary-style program where teamwork, outdoor education, and other “non-traditional” subjects superseded standardized testing. Born and raised in Mexico, Gloria is a first-generation college graduate, graduating from the CU Denver Business School in 2018 with a BA in Marketing and Information Systems. As a first-generation student, Bryant Burciaga has always had a go-getter, entrepreneurial mindset. From an early age, Bryant’s parents instilled in him the importance of earning a college degree and that was his motivation from the start. On Wednesday, March 6, employers from the Denver metro area gathered in the Lawrence Street Center to network with students from the CU Denver Business School. Hundreds of students attended the fair, with high hopes of creating connections that would lead to jobs and internship opportunities. Unresolved issues around begging exist in almost every city around the world. CU Denver Business School Senior Instructor Francisco Conejo was walking down 16^th Street in Denver when he was personally confronted with it. As a researcher, he decided to use his expertise in macromarketing to advance the literature around begging, specifically identifying the structural origins of begging in Denver.  Read more

Gloria Avalos, a first-generation student, always had a passion for business. Born and raised in Mexico, she knew higher education was always a part of her bigger plan. Despite having a passion for business, she studied nutrition at a Mexican university because the school didn’t offer a formal business degree.
