  • Metro Denver has one of the lowest unemployment rates

    Metro Denver’s unadjusted unemployment rate was unchanged in December at 2.6 percent, the same as November, but down from this time last year, according to job estimates released today from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. The 2.6 percent rate is for a 10-county area that includes Denver, Aurora, Lakewood, Broomfield and Centennial, but not Boulder.  Read more

  • RMI students participate in AIG producers council event

    University of Colorado Denver Business School students Kennedi Christensen and Nick Nguyen were invited to join the AIG Denver 2016 Fall Producers Council & Claims Advisory Board celebration on Nov. 30 at Hotel Monaco’s Wine Cellar. The students were chosen to attend, because of their involvement with the Risk Management Insurance program here at the Business School.  Read more

  • Beta Mu GIS partners with Colorado CPCU Society for toy drive

    This holiday season, the Beta Mu chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS) at the University of Colorado Denver Business School partnered with the Colorado CPCU Society to generously support Children’s Hospital of Colorado Holiday Toy Drive. University of Colorado Denver Business School students, faculty, and staff supported the toy drive at the Business School, and the Colorado CPCU Society generously joined in and directed their November and December philanthropy dollars to the worth endeavor.  Read more

  • Consul General of Japan visits CU Denver Business School

    On Monday Dec. 19, the Consul General of Japan in Denver, Makoto Ito, accompanied by Consul Murai visited the CU Denver Business School. The Consulate helped coordinate the Kakehashi Program, which allowed business school students visit Japan on a weeklong trip this past November. During his visit to the school, the Consul General met with Dean Rohan Christie-David who introduced him to the building and discussed ways to continue building partnerships with the Business School and Japan.  Read more

  • Graduate student and long-time friend present research at hacking competition in Shanghai

    CU Denver Business School Information Systems graduate student, Lani Rupp, and her research partner Steven Chavez, recently returned from a cybersecurity competition in Shanghai, China. The pair competed in GeekPwn, a global contest in which hackers are invited to showcase the vulnerabilities they’ve found in smart devices. Many of the participants focused on hacking the usual suspects: smartphones, laptops, video game consoles etc.  Read more

  • Former HealthSouth CFO discusses fallout from multi-billion dollar fraud scandal

    On November 30, 2016, University of Colorado Denver students learned about the very serious repercussions that come with financial fraud. Nearly 130 students, faculty and alumni joined the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative at the University of Colorado Denver Business School to hear the story of Weston Smith, former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the HealthSouth Corporation.  Read more

  • Wayne Cascio receives WFPMA Lifetime Achievement Award

    Distinguished Professor Wayne Cascio earned the World Federation of People Management Association’s (WFPMA) Lifetime Achievement Award by a unanimous vote by the Board of Directors on Oct. 18, 2016 in London. The WFPMA is an organization representing more than 600,000 people management professionals in over 90 national human resource management associations around the world.  Read more
