  • CU Denver’s MOOC specialization among the highest ranked

    CU Denver Business School’s Data Warehousing for Business Intelligence Specialization, a set of massive open online courses (MOOCs) offered through Coursera, is one of the top-rated specializations in the data science category for business, receiving about 4.5 stars out of 5 with a total of over 6,000 course completions across the five courses. The specialization was developed by two Information Systems professors at the Business School, Jahangir Karimi and Michael Mannino.  Read more

  • Learning through community engagement: Maymester in Belize

    Nestled between Mexico’s southern peninsula and Guatemala and located on the eastern coast of Central America lies Belize. The country is renowned for its natural beauty and vibrant culture. Belize also is the site for one of four exciting study abroad Maymester opportunities. Up to 14 graduate and undergraduate students at the CU Denver Business School will travel to the country’s capital city, Punta Gorda this spring.  Read more

  • Students visit major companies during BCC’s first San Francisco Career Trek

    Business Career Connections (BCC) held its first San Francisco Career Trek the week of October 10th. Four graduate students, and 13 undergraduate students attended the trip with Sue Wyman, Director, BCC, and Stephanie Sindt, Career Advisor, BCC.  Students came from Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, International Business, Human Resources and MBA programs.  Read more

  • New Certificate on Cyber Security and Information Assurance

    The Information Systems Program and the Jake Jabs Center For Entrepreneurship at the CU Denver Business School are pleased to announce the offering of a new certificate in Cyber Security and Information Assurance. The first course is set to start June 6th, 5:30 – 7:30 PM at the CU South Denver Campus. With recent breaches in the security of many large government agencies and private corporations, cyber security is an issue of great importance to the global society.  Read more

    DENVER–(BUSINESS WIRE)–For the second year in a row, government software and consulting-services provider Fast Enterprises, LLC (FAST) has been honored as a “best place to work” by online jobs and career community Glassdoor. FAST has moved to the number two spot on Glassdoor’s 50 Best Medium-Sized Companies to Work For list, which is based on anonymous employee feedback in areas such as job satisfaction, career opportunities, pay and benefits, company culture, and more.  Read more

  • Master’s in Information System Best Bet for Job Prospects

    DENVER – Forbes has ranked a Master’s degree in Information Systems (IS) as the best option for job opportunities. In their annual ranking of the top ten Master’s degrees for jobs, the publication listed IS at the top, citing mid-career median pay of over $100,000 and ten-year growth in jobs of 30%. Forbes quotes Katie Bardaro, lead economist at Payscale, saying “people with a master’s in information systems are generally trained to be managers for IT workers… therefore, when you combine management with a growing industry you experience top pay and employment prospects.”  Read more

    Thoughtful plan and snappy presentation impress judges DENVER – Florida State University may have won the NCAA BCS National Football Championship but the school’s veteran student organization had to settle for second best against the University of Colorado Denver— CU Denver took top honors at the 2nd Annual Chapter Business Plan Competition at the Student Veterans of America’s National Conference.  Read more
