  • New commodities center professional education course

    Participants in the new Commodity Data Analysis course offered by the J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities (JPMCC) at the CU Denver Business School, traveled across the globe to gain valuable skills in quantitative reasoning this past week. The new three-day intensive course, held from November 9 to 11, was offered as a part of the JPMCC’s Professional Education courses.  Read more

    CU Denver students represent a large and diverse talent pool, which appeals to Colorado employers, says Sarah Trzeciak, MS, senior director of student development and Career Center director. “Our location is key – we are literally across the street from thousands of companies that make up our diverse economy – hospitals, retail, startups, engineering, public health and health care,” she says.  Read more

  • Rising from the ashes

    The winds of change sweeping the nation on Wednesday, Nov. 9, are nothing new to Josh Pollack. He’s seen plenty of shifts in the past year. His bagel store in Denver’s Five Points neighborhood, which proved an immediate success upon opening two years ago, sustained a major setback last May when an early morning fire broke out in one of the apartments above the business. The blaze damaged the back two-thirds of Rosenberg’s Bagels & Delicatessen, forcing a lengthy closure for repairs.  Read more

  • Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs awards student travel grants

    Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs awarded the University of Colorado Denver’s Institute for International Business a study grant for Business School students to visit Japan through the Kakehashi Project. Accepted participants will leave for the weeklong trip to Japan at the end of November. The purpose of this program is to promote an understanding of Japan’s economy, business, history, culture, and U.S.-Japan  Read more

  • Accomplished junior seeks to break down Millennial stereotypes

    It’s safe to say that since her time at the CU Denver Business School, Ariana Nikmanesh has been busy. Since the beginning of her college career two years ago, Nikmanesh has been active both on and off campus, having served as a research assistant at the business school, a marketing assistant, a College Council business representative for Student Government, and a marketing intern for a major Denver-based firm—all while holding down a job and tackling a full academic course load.  Read more

  • Students hear hiring message from a J.P. Morgan executive director

    Dr. Rossen Roussev, Executive Director of Quantitative Research with J.P. Morgan’s Global Commodities business in New York, visited the University of Colorado Denver Business School this past week to teach a new three-day Commodities Center Professional Education course. To further connect with students on campus, he held a discussion for interested Master of Science and PhD students from the hard sciences and mathematics on November 10.  Read more

  • GEM takes on London

    In September 2016, eight GEM students traveled to London to complete GEMM course 6690 – Special Topics. GEMM 6690 is an elective course designed to provide international or domestic learning opportunities. The course is a week-long travel course concentrated on problem-solving within the energy industry. Over the week abroad, students have the opportunity to meet with industry leaders and glean international understanding and perspective on current issues by visiting of over 15 sites.  Read more
