Growing up, Sofie Maliyevsky ’25 wanted to be a fashion designer. She loved drawing, painting, and creating, even making custom styles for her dolls. Through her formative years, Maliyevsky attended a hands-on, expeditionary-style program where teamwork, outdoor education, and other “non-traditional” subjects superseded standardized testing. When Jennifer first graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, she had no idea what the world had in store for her, but felt confident that she did not want to pursue a career as an engineer. After graduation, Jennifer began working in management consulting with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) in Chicago. She found the work interesting, but a round of layoffs left her without a job two years later.  Read more

It is no coincidence one of Christina Epling’s favorite quotes is by Wayne Gretzky: “You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.” Christina at Hard Rock Stadium Christina has never been one to shy away from taking those big shots, working in sports and events. As an undergraduate student at UCLA, she interned for 20^th Century Fox, Sony, and Fox Sports. Charlotte Bockstahler, a CU Denver Business School alum and accomplished leader in the sports and entertainment industry, knew early on she had found the right career field. Charlotte started her career in sports while she was an undergraduate student at University of Colorado – Boulder. CU Denver Business School Senior Instructor Francisco Conejo was walking down 16^th Street in Denver when he was personally confronted with it. I remember that moment specifically. A moment that would normally be filled with satisfaction and pride was instead filled with utter exhaustion.
