DENVER— The Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) Program awarded more than $40,000 in scholarships in Fall 2014 to 42 students enrolled in the RMI program at the University of Colorado Denver Business School. Scholarships have provided a strong recruiting tool for the RMI program, as they encourage students to take RMI courses and to consider an industry with which they may otherwise be unfamiliar.  Read more

The Business School at the University of Colorado Denver has recently announced it will offer its first continuing professional education (CPE) course for tax professionals. The course is entitled “Recent Proposed Treasury Regulations Affecting the Taxation of Partnership Loss Transfers and Mandatory Basis Adjustments under Subchapter K.” The purpose of the course is to provide participants with a basic understanding of Internal Revenue Code sections 704(c)(1)(C), 743(d), and 734(d), and how to apply the regulations to affecting partners and partnerships.  Read more

The OneBeacon Insurance Group Charitable Trust has made a scholarship gift of $10,000 to the Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) program at University of Colorado Denver Business School. This is the first gift from OneBeacon Insurance Group to the RMI program and it will continue the program’s goal to recruit more students into the insurance industry workforce. A large proportion of risk management and insurance employees are expected to retire in the next five years, and as Denver grows as an insurance and business hub, it will require an increasing number of new industry professionals.  Read more
