  • Jian Yang selected as research chair at the J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities

    The J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities (JPMCC) at the University of Colorado Denver Business School has selected Dr. Jian Yang, professor of finance and risk management, as the new incoming Research Chair. As the JPMCC Research Chair, Yang sets the direction of conferences, creates academic coursework, provides leadership and other activities that will shape the JPMCC as the leading research and education center in the world.  Read more

  • Distinguished alumnus shares path to success

    Jeremy Nicholas, ’07 BSBA in Finance, was recently recognized by Denver Business Journal as a Top 40 under 40 leader in the Denver community. His background in finance and banking along with his degree from the CU Denver Business School helped him achieve the goals he set out for himself. Nicholas now serves as the President of the DTC/Cherry Hills Office of First Western Trust, but his background isn’t the traditional one you’d expect.  Read more

  • Information systems student: charting new paths

    Food is often at the center of the strongest friendships. For CU Denver graduating seniors Robera Oljira and Abel Mebrahtu, a bond grew as they dined on Ethiopian delicacies and sipped strong coffee. It evolved further as they tried to best each at billiards, ping pong and on the soccer pitch. On a recent visit to the Nile Restaurant in Aurora, Robera and Abel laughed and reminisced about their fast-moving college years.  Read more

  • ‘Stretch goals’ can propel companies forward but are dangerous for most, say CU Denver researchers

    Some of the most successful companies set goals that often appear audacious and risky.

    As companies struggle to maximize output while staying ahead of the competition, a new study from University of Colorado Denver Business School examines the idea of ‘stretch goals’ and why audacious targets are often misunderstood and sometimes misused. The study, co-authored by CU Denver Assistant Professor of Management Dr. Kelly E. See, was recently published in Harvard Business Review.  Read more
