While some of us celebrated Fall Break by eating too much turkey on Thanksgiving, 20 talented CU Denver Business School students spent their time learning about the economy, history, and culture of a country located an ocean away. After having been awarded an all-expenses-paid trip to Japan from the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of the Kakehashi Project, several returning student participants reflected on their weeklong experience abroad.  Read more

It’s safe to say that since her time at the CU Denver Business School, Ariana Nikmanesh has been busy. Since the beginning of her college career two years ago, Nikmanesh has been active both on and off campus, having served as a research assistant at the business school, a marketing assistant, a College Council business representative for Student Government, and a marketing intern for a major Denver-based firm—all while holding down a job and tackling a full academic course load.  Read more

In September 2016, eight GEM students traveled to London to complete GEMM course 6690 – Special Topics. GEMM 6690 is an elective course designed to provide international or domestic learning opportunities. The course is a week-long travel course concentrated on problem-solving within the energy industry. Over the week abroad, students have the opportunity to meet with industry leaders and glean international understanding and perspective on current issues by visiting of over 15 sites.  Read more

Business Career Connections (BCC) held its first San Francisco Career Trek the week of October 10th. Four graduate students, and 13 undergraduate students attended the trip with Sue Wyman, Director, BCC, and Stephanie Sindt, Career Advisor, BCC.  Students came from Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, International Business, Human Resources and MBA programs.  Read more

The third annual Colorado Business School Career Fair was held at Sports Authority Field on Thursday, September 29^th. 165 employers attended this year’s Career Fair – up from 150 from the 2015 fair. The Center for Information Technology Innovation (CITI) in Collaboration with the Information Systems Association (ISA) student club hosted its 11th annual Become a Business Leader with an Edge executive panel event on October 18, 2016. The business leaders from the community gathered for a panel discussion on the importance of acquiring information technology (IT) skills in order to be competitive in today’s business world.  Read more

Each year, CU Denver’s Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship hosts its Business Plan Competition, in which young entrepreneurs are given the opportunity to pitch their ideas to established business leaders, with the winner receiving the financial support needed to start or grow their business. Recently, the Jake Jabs Center hosted a “Shark Tank” style pitch night, the quarter-final portion of this year’s competition, where participants were given two minutes to present their elevator pitch to a panel of esteemed judges, who then asked participants follow-up questions for up to three minutes.  Read more
