  • Colorado adds 2,200 jobs; unemployment drops to 6-year low

    Colorado added 2,200 payroll jobs in December from the previous month, while the state’s unemployment rate fell for the fifth consecutive month, to 6.2 percent, the lowest level in six years, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employmentreported Tuesday. But the decline in the jobless rate was due more to a drop in the state’s labor force than job gains, the CDLE estimated.  Read more

  • John Bowlen Credits CU Denver for Shaping his Sports Business Expertise

    The Son of Broncos owner Pat Bowlen graduated from Business School’s Sports and Entertainment Management MBA program. John Bowlen kicked off his Denver Broncos career at age 10 as a ball boy. He has since worked in nearly every facet of the beloved franchise, and Bowlen points to a period of hitting the books — in the Sports and Entertainment Management MBA program at the University of Colorado Denver — for helping launch his current success.  Read more

  • RMI Program awards more than $29,000 in Fall 2013 scholarships and recruit students to the Insurance Industry

    DENVER— The Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) Program awarded $29,370 in scholarships to 25 students enrolled in the RMI program at the University of Colorado Denver Business School.  Scholarships have been a major focus for the RMI program because they help recruit top students into an industry that they may not consider, or even know about. Dr. Ajeyo Banerjee, RMI Program Director, states, “We are so thankful to all the companies and individuals who have helped support scholarships for our students.  Read more

  • Jake Jabs Center in the News

    DENVER – The Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado Denver Business School was recently highlighted in an article by ColoradoBiz magazine. The article featured the eponymous Jake Jabs, who is best known as the Founder and CEO of American Furniture Warehouse. In the article, Jabs discusses his background and business philosophy, the story behind his television commercials (which have become somewhat iconic in Denver and surrounding areas), as well as the reasons behind his $10 million donation to name the Center for Entrepreneurship.  Read more
