  • Center for commodities hosting international symposium in August

    The J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities at the CU Denver Business School is hosting “New Directions in Commodities Research” on August 10-11, 2017. Co-organized by Ajeyo Banerjee, Director of the JPMCC and Graham Davis, Professor of Mineral Economics at the Colorado School of Mines, the international commodities symposium brings together global thought leaders and prominent stakeholders in commodities to discuss critical thinking and new research related to commodities.  Read more

  • CU Denver researcher helping shape financial policy in China

    Dr. Jian Yang’s research is helping to influence policy on the financial sector in China with his research as a visiting fellow at People’s Bank of China (PBOC/PBC) last year. China is on a mission become a stronger player in the game of globalization. With its “One Belt, One Road” (OBOR) policy, Chinese leaders hope to expand trade links between Asia, Africa, and Europe by investing in its Silk Road.  Read more

  • Jian Yang selected as research chair at the J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities

    The J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities (JPMCC) at the University of Colorado Denver Business School has selected Dr. Jian Yang, professor of finance and risk management, as the new incoming Research Chair. As the JPMCC Research Chair, Yang sets the direction of conferences, creates academic coursework, provides leadership and other activities that will shape the JPMCC as the leading research and education center in the world.  Read more

  • ‘Stretch goals’ can propel companies forward but are dangerous for most, say CU Denver researchers

    Some of the most successful companies set goals that often appear audacious and risky.

    As companies struggle to maximize output while staying ahead of the competition, a new study from University of Colorado Denver Business School examines the idea of ‘stretch goals’ and why audacious targets are often misunderstood and sometimes misused. The study, co-authored by CU Denver Assistant Professor of Management Dr. Kelly E. See, was recently published in Harvard Business Review.  Read more

  • PhD student publishes paper in top-tier information systems journal

    Joel Fredrickson, a third year Computer Science and Information Systems (CSIS) doctoral candidate, recently received news that his joint authored paper would be published in one of the top design science journals within the information systems field. The paper, entitled “Development and Evaluation of a Similarity Measure for Medical Event Sequences,” is set to be published in ACM Transactions on Management Information Systems.  Read more

  • NSF awards grant for police body camera research to PhD student

    Abdul Sesay, Computer Science and Information Systems (CSIS) doctoral candidate, was recently awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) Grant to continue his research on the impact of the use of body-worn cameras (BWC) in Colorado police departments. The NSF Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grant is a highly competitive national award that supports research that uses historical, philosophical, and social scientific methods to investigate the intellectual, material, and social facets of the scientific, technological, engineering, and mathematical (STEM) disciplines.  Read more
