  • Belize Maymester 2017: a lesson in service learning

    A group of CU Denver Business School students recently returned from a Maymester program in Belize. Their goal? Hone their respective business skillsets through service learning projects aimed at helping the local population. Led by Associate Professor of Information Systems, Ron Ramirez, the students embarked on a three-week trip that began in the country’s capital city, Punta Gorda.  Read more

  • The Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship awards four student startup teams at THE CLIMB | Collegiate Pitch Night

    A ground-breaking, industrial botanical extraction system for the essential oil market won first place at THE CLIMB | Collegiate Pitch Night, sponsored by the Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado Denver Business School. David Baker, founder of Botanex, impressed the judges panel, winning $3,000 and in-kind prizes to support his business.  Read more

  • Accelerated MBA students glimpse into business in Europe

    In March, the Accelerated MBA cohort completed their International Business course abroad which included stops in Munich, Vienna, and Ljubljana. The course provides the opportunity for students to see how business is conducted in other parts of the world and create a platform to compare and contrast business cultures globally. This year students got to visit companies in a variety of industries and make stops in five countries.  Read more

  • Five takeaways from Cuba

    Business School study abroad trip focuses on re-establishing entrepreneurism in communist nation In January, the University of Colorado Denver Business School took 16 students on a study abroad trip to Cuba, a country experiencing a renewed wave of entrepreneurial spirit. Although Cuba remains a communist nation, Raul Castro’s transition to power has allowed the creation of state-approved private businesses, many of which are flourishing.  Read more

  • Cuba Libre: international experiential learning

    With the Cuban borders officially opened in 2015, our students are now able to experience a previously unseen side of Cuba through a Business School Study Abroad program, Cuba Libre. Through the program, students experience the rich cultural history of urban and rural Cuba, while gaining an understanding of the complex political and economic system as it tries to embrace normalized relations with the world’s largest economy.  Read more

  • Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs awards student travel grants

    Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs awarded the University of Colorado Denver’s Institute for International Business a study grant for Business School students to visit Japan through the Kakehashi Project. Accepted participants will leave for the weeklong trip to Japan at the end of November. The purpose of this program is to promote an understanding of Japan’s economy, business, history, culture, and U.S.-Japan  Read more

  • Student shares hands-on experience in her sustainability field study course

    The Sustainability Field Study Course at the CU Denver Business School led by professor Graham Russell that concluded this past Spring gave students the real world experience they crave. Students who took the coursework individually or in small teams to conduct a semester-long sustainability project in a local company, government agency or non-profit. These projects address a clearly identified need and lead to a well-defined product or deliverable that can be achieved within the duration of a single semester.  Read more
