  • The modern workplace: Researching the relationship between beauty and women’s career success

    University of Colorado Denver professor studies the effects of women’s appearance in the workplace

    According to Traci Sitzmann, management professor at the University of Colorado Denver, outward appearance can make a difference in how a woman is perceived at work. At the same time those observations are capable of hurting women in the workplace by producing discrimination. Physically attractive women are frequently discriminated against when applying for historically masculine jobs.  Read more

  • Professor Jian Yang featured in China Daily

    CU Denver Professor Jian Yang, Director of the university’s Finance and Risk Management program, was recently featured in the most prominent national English newspaper in China, China Daily. At the annual Global Investment Conference held in New York earlier this month, scholars, company executives, and investors gathered to exchange their views on a plethora of topics pertaining to global investment trends and challenges in China.  Read more

  • Professor Bonaparte’s research featured in Wall Street Journal

    Yosef Bonaparte has been with the CU Denver Business School since 2014 as an Assistant Professor of Finance. Before becoming an integral part of the University, Bonaparte graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2008 with a Ph.D. in Financial Economics. Professor Bonaparte’s main research interests are in Portfolio Choice and Asset Pricing. In particular, he examines how political climate and political affiliation influence investors’ portfolio choices and the stock market in general.  Read more

  • Prize for sustainability issues in business curriculum

    Dr. Sue Keaveney’s Managing for Sustainability marketing course, “Marketing and Global Sustainability” at the CU Denver Business School, received honorable mention for the Dr. Alfred N. and Lynn Manos Page Prize for Sustainability Issues in Business Curricula award. The award results from an international competition hosted by the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.   Read more

  • China Factories Face Competition

    While China is currently the most competitive manufacturing nation on the globe, a new study released on Wednesday predicts that the United States will surpass it by the end of the decade, as a global shift to more advanced methods of assembly favors advanced economies. Jian Yang, Director of Finance at the University of Colorado Denver Business School said the traditional Chinese advantage in manufacturing – cost competitiveness – has been compromised due to rising wages and soaring land prices.  Read more

  • Cascio Appointed as an Editor for the Journal of International Business Studies

    “Serving as a journal editor is a very significant academic distinction. To be named the editor of one of the premier journals in a major field is even more significant,” said Kenneth Bettenhausen, Director of MS Management at the CU Denver Business School. Wayne Cascio, Distinguished University Professor and Reynolds Chair in Global Leadership, is one of the most notable professors at CU Denver and can now add another distinction to his résumé, as Cascio was recently appointed as editor for International Human Resource Management for the Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS).  Read more
