The third annual Denver Startup Week had a wonderful turnout. The Business School alone saw over 1,000 attendees. From September 15 through September 19 local entrepreneurs and professionals visited startup havens around Denver to hear industry experts share tips and tricks for creating a successful organization. The 2014 Denver Startup Week is over, but many of the presentations live on:

• Michael Collin’s Be Story Driven, held in on the fifth floor of the Business School, was a widely attended presentation.

During Denver Startup Week over 1,200 Denver professionals and entrepreneurs attended presentations at University of Colorado Denver Business School. On September 17 the Managing Attorney for Trademark Outreach for the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Craig Morris, presented “Trademark Basics” on the fifth floor of the Business School in the Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship.  Read more

Time is running out to cast your session votes for the third annual Denver Startup Week. For one whole week, September 15-20, 2014, the Denver community will come together and learn about all the great innovations in business, design, manufacturing, and technology. Voting ends June 30. Voting is critically important to the success of Denver Startup Week. DENVER – The Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship hosted three casting associates from ABC’s Shark Tank for a Denver College Day. The critically-acclaimed business-themed show, Shark Tank, has the Sharks continuing the search to invest in the best businesses and products that America has to offer. The show received a nomination for a Producers Guild Award in 2013.  Read more

The Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado Denver Business School recently conducted their first “Virtual Pitch Night,” part of their 2014 Business Plan Competition. The virtual event allowed participants in the competition from outside of the Denver Metro area to compete in the annual competition. 2014 marks the first year the Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship has opened the competition to individuals outside of the CU System.  Read more

DENVER – The Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship recently announced that it will offer scholarship awards to students registered in graduate entrepreneurship classes during the summer of 2014—including Maymester classes. AppIt Ventures, a software startup that got rolling after winning the 2012 Bard Center for Entrepreneurship Business Plan competition (now the Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship Business Plan Competition) at the CU Denver Business School, is going strong and just reached another milestone. Still at the helm of AppIt is company founder Rob Carpenter, who recently represented CU Denver in another prestigious competition—the University Startup Challenge at the University of Denver.  Read more
