CU Denver | Anschutz campuses lead the initial effort 3/3/2014 The University of Colorado and The Wildlife Experience, the largest cultural institution in Douglas County, will collaborate to allow CU to begin offering classes in south metro Denver in fall 2014. The OneBeacon Insurance Group Charitable Trust has made a scholarship gift of $10,000 to the Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) program at University of Colorado Denver Business School. This is the first gift from OneBeacon Insurance Group to the RMI program and it will continue the program’s goal to recruit more students into the insurance industry workforce. A large proportion of risk management and insurance employees are expected to retire in the next five years, and as Denver grows as an insurance and business hub, it will require an increasing number of new industry professionals.  Read more

The number-crunchers at the consumer website NerdWallet have ranked the 20 best cities in America for female entrepreneurs, and Denver made the list. Denver is No. 7 on the list, which was created based on five factors: a city’s entrepreneurial climate, the percentage of businesses owned by women, median earnings for female workers, the percentage of residents with a college degree, and the unemployment rate.  Read more

Forbes is out with its latest annual ranking of the nation’s 20 fastest growing cities in terms of population and economic growth — and Denver has jumped higher on the list. Metro Denver ranks No. 6 in Forbes’ 2014 estimation, up from No. 16 on the 2013 list. Forbes says Denver’s population growth rate was 1.75 percent last year, but the ranking isn’t solely based on population increase.  Read more
