“Many small people, who in many small places do many small things, can alter the face of the world.” So reads an inscription on one of the remaining panels of the Berlin Wall, a barrier between East and West Berlin that stood for nearly three decades and became a symbol of a divided world. When the wall fell, so too did barriers to the flow of capital, goods, and people.
