In the current job market, the task of standing out to future employers is getting more difficult as competition between applicants increases. For today’s candidates, the ability to bring real-world industry experience into their first post-graduate position can be a game-changing factor, the difference that sets them apart from the rest. Two student organizations were guided this semester by one Finance and Accounting student, Irene Wang. An ambitious student both inside and outside the classroom, Irene saw an opportunity to grow her own personal interests, build her resume, and give back to the Business School as president to both the CU Denver Net Impact chapter and the CU Denver Golden Key Honor Society chapter.  Read more

In March, the Accelerated MBA cohort completed their International Business course abroad which included stops in Munich, Vienna, and Ljubljana. The course provides the opportunity for students to see how business is conducted in other parts of the world and create a platform to compare and contrast business cultures globally. This year students got to visit companies in a variety of industries and make stops in five countries.  Read more

University of Colorado Denver MBA student Derek Safko noticed that simply saying “car wash business” is like tossing a wet blanket over potential investors. They often zone out before he can reveal the breadth of his plan to revolutionize the industry. So, Safko took the extreme step of conducting a moonshot – quite literally. After weeks of watching weather patterns, he launched a copy of his business plan to the edge of space.  Read more

Two CU Denver Business School Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) students were selected to travel to the Surplus Lines Association of California (SLACAL) Annual Meeting in San Francisco on February 7, 2017. This is the second time that students have been generously sponsored by SLACAL to attend their Annual Meeting. The students enjoyed an action packed two days of visits with carriers and brokers, as well as introductions to leaders in the California wholesale market.  Read more

Each year the Risk Management Society (RIMS), a leading global nonprofit dedicated to educating, engaging, and advocating for those in the risk field, sponsors a handful of top Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) students to attend the organization’s annual conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This year, CU Denver’s RMI program will be sending two of its own students to the national event, both of whom won RIMS’s prestigious Anita Benedetti Student Involvement Program sponsorships.  Read more
