For inspiration in business and in life, Julie Austin doesn’t need to look far. All she has to do is talk to her mother and grandmother. Julie, 22, will be the third generation in her family to graduate from the CU Denver Business School when she finishes her studies next year. Since 2016, three outstanding Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) students have landed internships with the National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices, Ltd (NAPSLO). Taylor Brock is a dual major in Finance and Risk Management and Insurance. He is also the first CU Denver RMI student to be invited to participate in the new Wholesale and Specialty Insurance Association’s (WSIA) Annual Conference in San Diego this September.  Read more

Thursday, August 3, 2017 –  CU Denver Business student and RMI senior Janet Zamora-Ramirez met with Brian Snow, Managing Director, Mountain States Territory of AIG, to personally thank him for the $1,000 AIG scholarship Janet received in spring 2017. Internship season is full swing, with CU Denver Business School students putting their expertise into action with area firms. And they’re doing some pretty impressive things. Take Louis Nyamekye, an incoming senior studying Finance and Risk Management and Insurance, with a minor in Communication. Despite having a full academic year still ahead of him, Nyamekye was able to secure an internship with Arrow Electronics for the summer of 2017, working as a finance and risk management intern in the company’s treasury department.  Read more

Two CU Denver Business School Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) students were selected to travel to the Surplus Lines Association of California (SLACAL) Annual Meeting in San Francisco on February 7, 2017. This is the second time that students have been generously sponsored by SLACAL to attend their Annual Meeting. The students enjoyed an action packed two days of visits with carriers and brokers, as well as introductions to leaders in the California wholesale market.  Read more

The CU Denver Business School was honored to host a delegation of cybersecurity experts who visited on February 22, Denver through WorldDenver and Denver Sister Cities International. The Indian cybersecurity experts are members of the US Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs International Visitor Leadership Program. The five-member Indian delegation is on a three-week tour of the US, visiting key cyber cities and partners to gain insight and discuss global practices linking digital policy to the emerging global threats of cybercrime, cyber risk, and law enforcement.  Read more
