Four years ago, as student Rob Bingham gazed out the top-floor windows of the CU Denver Business School wondering how the booming metropolis below would help shape his future, he knew two things for certain: He wanted to give back to the Denver community he chose and support the veterans he honored.
Today, after venturing from his small, Midwestern hometown, first to the battlefields in the Army, then to the urban campus he passed up other universities to join, Bingham, 32, is running Denver’s annual Veterans Day parade through the Colorado Veterans Project (CVP) he founded, making his Mile High mark in a big and patriotic way. Working in the healthcare field as a female, Dr. Sharmila Anand, Managing Director for SEHPL in India, recounts how she also encountered resistance and obstacles. But she remembers well the supportive environment that surrounded her as a CU Denver Business School student. “I could never thank the University of Colorado Denver enough.”
Dr. Anand, a social entrepreneur, doctor, and educator, was recently honored at the inaugural Annual Heroines of Health Awards ceremony at the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland. Read more
For Anna Luiza, the decision of where to attend college was easy. A Brazilian native, Luiza first arrived in Denver during high school through an exchange program. She fell in love with the city and began planning her return shortly after leaving several years ago. Now pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration majoring in both financial management and accounting, Luiza recently sat down with the Office of International Affairs to elaborate on why CU Denver was the obvious choice for her. Food is often at the center of the strongest friendships. For CU Denver graduating seniors Robera Oljira and Abel Mebrahtu, a bond grew as they dined on Ethiopian delicacies and sipped strong coffee. It evolved further as they tried to best each at billiards, ping pong and on the soccer pitch.

While some of us celebrated Fall Break by eating too much turkey on Thanksgiving, 20 talented CU Denver Business School students spent their time learning about the economy, history, and culture of a country located an ocean away. After having been awarded an all-expenses-paid trip to Japan from the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of the Kakehashi Project, several returning student participants reflected on their weeklong experience abroad.
