  • Students Learn of Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Giants in Ireland

    What do Patrick Collison, John Collison, and Terry Cavanagh have in common? They are all Irish-born entrepreneurs on Forbes’ “30 under 30” list. Named the “Celtic Tiger” in the 1990s and persevering through the 2000’s Great Recession, Ireland has been a hub for genius and entrepreneurship. For these reasons, University of Colorado – Denver Business School professor Jan Rutherford led a group of students to the Republic of Ireland for the Maymester course Leadership and Entrepreneurship in Ireland.  Read more

  • Jake Jabs Center Conducts First Virtual Pitch Night

    The Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado Denver Business School recently conducted their first “Virtual Pitch Night,” part of their 2014 Business Plan Competition. The virtual event allowed participants in the competition from outside of the Denver Metro area to compete in the annual competition. 2014 marks the first year the Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship has opened the competition to individuals outside of the CU System.  Read more

  • Jake Jabs Center Announces Scholarships Available for Summer

    DENVER – The Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship recently announced that it will offer scholarship awards to students registered in graduate entrepreneurship classes during the summer of 2014—including Maymester classes. This represents a great opportunity for students, both current and prospective, to learn about entrepreneurship from the phenomenal faculty at the Jake Jabs Center.  Read more

  • Business Plan Champion Reaches Another Milestone

    AppIt Ventures, a software startup that got rolling after winning the 2012 Bard Center for Entrepreneurship Business Plan competition (now the Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship Business Plan Competition) at the CU Denver Business School, is going strong and just reached another milestone. Still at the helm of AppIt is company founder Rob Carpenter, who recently represented CU Denver in another prestigious competition—the University Startup Challenge at the University of Denver.  Read more

  • Annual Business Plan Competition Kicks Off with Orientation

    DENVER – The Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship Business Plan Competition Orientation has officially kicked off the annual competition. The first event of the contest, the Business Plan Competition Orientation was held at the Jake Jabs Center on February 26th, 2014. Attendees were given details and tips about participating in the competition, which brings together challengers from Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming to vie for $75,000 in cash and in-kind awards.  Read more

  • Denver Among Best Cities for Female Entrepreneurs

    DENVER – The website NerdWallet, a site that uses number-crunching to help consumers make informed decision, recently released their list of the 10 “Best Cities for Female Entrepreneurs.” Coming in at number 7 is Denver, thanks in part to the education offered by the Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado Denver Business School.  Read more

  • CU expands to South Denver

    CU Denver | Anschutz campuses lead the initial effort 3/3/2014 The University of Colorado and The Wildlife Experience, the largest cultural institution in Douglas County, will collaborate to allow CU to begin offering classes in south metro Denver in fall 2014. CU’s Denver and Anschutz campuses will lead the initial effort, which is expected to offer courses and certificates in business, education, engineering, nursing and other health areas.  Read more
