    Three billion dollars were lost in the last three years because of email scams. To make matters worse, there are almost 1.5 million unoccupied cybersecurity jobs in the United States alone. “The greatest emerging threat facing humanity today is a cyber attack.” Vance Brown, CEO of the National Cybersecurity Center (NCC) quoted the former director of the CIA, General Petraeus, to set the stage for the Mountain West Cybersecurity Consortium (MWCC).  Read more

  • Top tech executives share insight for Colorado’s promising future

    Under the St. Cajetan cathedral domes, 300 students and community members heard about the future of information technology (IT) from top executives in the Denver area at the 12th Annual Become a Business Leader with an Edge. Hosted by the Center for Information Technology Innovation (CITI) in collaboration with the Information Systems Association (ISA), the event was packed.  Read more

  • CU Denver’s MOOC specialization among the highest ranked

    CU Denver Business School’s Data Warehousing for Business Intelligence Specialization, a set of massive open online courses (MOOCs) offered through Coursera, is one of the top-rated specializations in the data science category for business, receiving about 4.5 stars out of 5 with a total of over 6,000 course completions across the five courses. The specialization was developed by two Information Systems professors at the Business School, Jahangir Karimi and Michael Mannino.  Read more

  • Flexible software for data generation aims to aid capstone students

    The Business School at the University of Colorado Denver partnered with Coursera to develop a high-demand specialization entitled “Data Warehousing for Business Intelligence.” Coursera is a leading provider of a platform for Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), partnering with many top universities worldwide. The specialization was developed by Associate Professor Michael Mannino and Professor Jahangir Karimi from June 2015 to April 2016.  Read more

  • CU Denver Launches Open Online Courses in Business Intelligence on Coursera

    The University of Colorado recently launched an online course series teaching data warehousing on Coursera, the world’s largest open online education provider. Launched on September 15, the Data Warehousing for Business Intelligence Specialization is a series of courses taught by CU Denver’s top faculty. The certificate program is open to anyone and ends with a capstone project, in which students build their own data warehouse with business intelligence functionality.  Read more

  • Business School Professor Discusses Issues with Using the Cloud with WSJ

    DENVER – The Wall Street Journal recently quoted University of Colorado Denver faculty member Jahangir Karimi for an article discussing small business’ use of cloud computing, and some of the problems they may face. Dr. Karimi is a Professor and the Director of Information Systems Programs at the CU Denver Business School. The article discussed the fact that while using the cloud can help small business become more lean and efficient in many ways, it can also cause some unintended and unplanned-for issues.  Read more

    Executives explain what skills employers are looking for, how to land dream job DENVER – Hundreds of thousands of information technology and computer-related jobs are currently unfilled in the United States due to a shortage of qualified applicants. The sector’s long-term employment outlook remains robust.
