    Social entrepreneurship recently touched down in the city of Denver at Project X-ITE’s Flight to Denver, a UN Solutions Summit boot camp for entrepreneurs from all over the world. CU Denver Business School faculty and students contributed to the weekend’s success by participating and leading the teams that supported entrepreneurs from across the globe. Three years ago, the United Nations adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to provide a framework to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure all people enjoy peace and prosperity.  Read more

  • Veteran turned entrepreneur seeks investors, sends business plan to edge of space

    University of Colorado Denver MBA student Derek Safko noticed that simply saying “car wash business” is like tossing a wet blanket over potential investors. They often zone out before he can reveal the breadth of his plan to revolutionize the industry. So, Safko took the extreme step of conducting a moonshot – quite literally. After weeks of watching weather patterns, he launched a copy of his business plan to the edge of space.  Read more

  • NSF awards grant for police body camera research to PhD student

    Abdul Sesay, Computer Science and Information Systems (CSIS) doctoral candidate, was recently awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) Grant to continue his research on the impact of the use of body-worn cameras (BWC) in Colorado police departments. The NSF Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grant is a highly competitive national award that supports research that uses historical, philosophical, and social scientific methods to investigate the intellectual, material, and social facets of the scientific, technological, engineering, and mathematical (STEM) disciplines.  Read more

  • Tackling Colorado healthcare under a new government

    In late March, three CU Denver Health Administration MBA students competed in the 8th Annual Business School Alliance for the Health Management (BAHM) Case Competition at the Haas School of Business. The team traveled to Berkeley, California to present their case on the topic of “President-elect Trump & The Future of Healthcare Reform” and network with hundreds of top healthcare players.  Read more

  • RMI students visit Surplus Lines Association of California annual meeting in San Francisco

    Two CU Denver Business School Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) students were selected to travel to the Surplus Lines Association of California (SLACAL) Annual Meeting in San Francisco on February 7, 2017. This is the second time that students have been generously sponsored by SLACAL to attend their Annual Meeting. The students enjoyed an action packed two days of visits with carriers and brokers, as well as introductions to leaders in the California wholesale market.  Read more

  • Recent PhD graduates earn professorships at research universities

    Landing a tenure-track position is not easy, but two recent CU Denver Business School PhD graduates, Yazan Alnsour and Bidyut Hazarika, from the Computer Science and Information Systems (CSIS) program did just that. In the world of academia, one of the most sought after positions is that of a tenure-track position. It allows not only the freedom to teach controversial ideas, but also the opportunity to produce thought-provoking research.  Read more

  • CU Denver increases ranking for top part-time MBA Program

    U.S. News and World Report recently released its 2018 evaluation of college graduate business programs and the University of Colorado Denver Business School was ranked No. 84 for its part-time MBA program. This increase in ranking serves as a nod to the Business School’s largest program, the Professional MBA, led by industry and research experts that balances cutting-edge business education with real-world application.  Read more
