  • Persistent efforts to connect students with careers pays off 

    “Consistent and persistent efforts to connect students with career perspectives” is the reason why CU Denver Information Systems Association (ISA) has continually won a national award according to faculty advisor, Jiban Khuntia, PhD, assistant professor of Information Systems. Connecting students with IT professionals in the Denver metro area is the heartbeat of the ISA student chapter.   Read more

  • Experiencing the lifecycle of oil and gas from the rig to the trading floor

    The room was tense as four teams worked diligently under great time pressure to study the geologic reports and seismic data of a large new oil and gas development area. Each team had $50 million and the opportunity to emerge as the production and financial leader, but each had to be fast, accurate, and efficient in their asset development. My team had some nice wells and made a modest profit, but placed dead last!  Read more

The study abroad course, London Calling: Maymester 2017, provided students the inside scoop of not only events like Wimbledon, but it also taught students the ins-and-outs of the sports and entertainment industries abroad.   • MBA students rub shoulders with CEO of Swiss company for strategy lab course

    Students in the MBA program have the option to take a Strategy Lab course, led by a seasoned strategy consultant and ’88 MBA alumna, Susan Heinzeroth. The course revolves around one consulting project for a client-company.  It emphasizes dual-track learning of both strategic planning, and consulting as a profession.  This semester, students are working on an e-commerce strategy for Similasan, a new company client for the course.  Read more

    Alumni, faculty, and students hung on to Christie Austin’s every word as she shared her real-world experience on risk taking and how that led to a career in professional golf. As an alumna of the Business School, Austin was the speaker for the Back to Business Speaker Series hosted by the Business School Alumni Network.   • Maintaining connections: how an internship led to employment within Denver startup week

    I am a recent graduate from the University of Colorado Denver 11-Month MBA program currently working at the Downtown Denver Partnership (DDP). Although I was not an entrepreneurship student, I was able to connect to the Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship through the Center’s Director, Dr. Madhavan “MP” Parthasarathy. MP taught the 11-Month MBA Program’s marketing course and played an active role in integrating the 11-Month MBA cohort into the Entrepreneurship Center.  Read more
