  • New Mentor Program Unites Alumni and Students

    Alumni mentoring is becoming recognized as one of the most critical components of the college experience. Feeling supported and having deep learning experiences during college means everything when it comes to success after graduation. Unfortunately, many graduates miss out on a key element of that support while in college: having a mentor. The Business School Alumni Network (BSAN) tackled this challenge by launching a new alumni mentor program this Spring, partnering with Mentor Collective, an international online mentoring community, to pair over 325 Business School upperclassmen and alumni together.  Read more

  • New CU Denver Investment Services Course Offers Industry Insights and Career Opportunities

    This spring, the CU Denver Business School launched an innovative course to introduce students to the investment services industry. Taught by Professor Yosef Bonaparte, Ph.D., the course offered a unique opportunity for students to land internships and careers through a partnership with the Colorado Investment Services Coalition (CISC). In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Professor Bonaparte had to quickly adapt the course to remote learning.  Read more

  • Business School Student Wins NFL Case Competition

    Ben Jenkins is an Economics and Finance double major at CU Denver Business School. This year, he won the National Football League’s 1st & Future analytical challenge. About the Competition The NFL 1st & Future, a challenge designed to spur innovation, hosted the second annual analytical competition in 2020. Last year, the contest resulted in a blindside block rule, and this year competitors examined the relationship between playing surface (synthetic turf or natural) and its contribution to lower extremity injuries (knee, ankle, and foot).  Read more

  • Bob Hottman Named the 2019 Daniels Fund Ethical Leader of the Year

    DENVER, October 8, 2019 —The Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative (DFEI) at the University of Colorado Denver Business School announces that Bob Hottman, partner at Plante Moran, has been selected as the 2019 Bill Daniels Ethical Leader of the Year. Now in its fifth year, the award will be presented to Hottman at the State of Small Business on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, hosted by the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce and the University of Colorado Denver Business School.  Read more

  • How to Prevent Burnout

    The Business School Alumni Network (BSAN) recently hosted the Summer Alumni Workshop: Averting (or Addressing) Burnout, facilitated by Maggie Graham, Assistant Director of Career and Professional Development for Business Career Connections (BCC). The event was a small, casual workshop for alumni over lunch, and participants were able to take an emotional intelligence (EQ) assessment and leave with knowledge and tools to protect against professional burnout.  Read more
