I am a recent graduate from the University of Colorado Denver 11-Month MBA program currently working at the Downtown Denver Partnership (DDP). Although I was not an entrepreneurship student, I was able to connect to the Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship through the Center’s Director, Dr. Madhavan “MP” Parthasarathy. Since 2016, three outstanding Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) students have landed internships with the National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices, Ltd (NAPSLO). Taylor Brock is a dual major in Finance and Risk Management and Insurance. He is also the first CU Denver RMI student to be invited to participate in the new Wholesale and Specialty Insurance Association’s (WSIA) Annual Conference in San Diego this September.  Read more

Parag Ravka is a second-year graduate student from India pursuing an MS in Information Systems. This past summer Ravka interned at Newmont Mining, a Fortune 500 company, where he worked as a technology intern. Headquartered in Greenwood Village, Newmont Mining is one of the world’s largest gold producers and is dedicated to sustainable and responsible mining. Ravka’s responsibilities included writing a complex computer language (Procedural Language/ Structured Query Language) and creating business intelligence reports for an environmental project.    Read more

Internship season is full swing, with CU Denver Business School students putting their expertise into action with area firms. And they’re doing some pretty impressive things. Take Louis Nyamekye, an incoming senior studying Finance and Risk Management and Insurance, with a minor in Communication. Despite having a full academic year still ahead of him, Nyamekye was able to secure an internship with Arrow Electronics for the summer of 2017, working as a finance and risk management intern in the company’s treasury department.  Read more
